Hi There;
This was years ago when I lived in Ontario but in the 70's & early 80's in Pa. Lancaster county was a good black rat snake area, they tended to live around barns in the Amish farming areas as well as the Aderondacs (sp??) in New York state, seems the nicest blackest ones are in the northeastern US and even as far north as Southern Ontario. I caught a huge black rat in 1988 in Smith Falls which is in the Ottawa Valley, the Kingston / Gananoque area in eastern Ontario is also know for it's black rats.
I also noticed that somebody posted a picture on this forum a couple weeks ago of a black ratsnake they caught on the New Jersy barrens.
Hope you find a real nice one!!!
Cheers Dean
