Hi Brandon - Yes, Texas Rats, can be belligerent and nippy. I have a pair of Orange Morph Texas that will act up, but usually will calm down after I pick them up. I know some people have Texas Rats that are more docile than a Rosy Boa (go figure). They do cover both extremes of the temperamental range. If you want a snake that will generally be more docile than belligerent, the Texas Rat may not be for you. I happen to love mine and know that I should be careful opening their enclosure and picking them up. They are great snakes and I recommend them, but I just want you to know that some or most can be nippy. If you're willing to put in the time, they will be less nippy to you and I hope you will love them like I do mine. I'm not trying to discourage you, I'm just answering you're post as best as I can. Good luck.
