didn't ship little hobo temps, or similar data loggers in shipments. You could ask for a deposit and have the recipient mail it back. That way, if there were losses, they could call the info up on the computer and see what temperature changes the critter went through during shipping. You might be able to filter out customer stupidity.
(I knew a guy who picked up his air freight shipment which had arrived fine at the Delta pickup place. Unfortunately, the person in the car with him was afraid of snakes, so he volunteered to put the now opened box in the trunk for the trip home with temps over 100° outside. Needless to say, when he got home, the animals were dead. The sad thing is he claimed to the shipper that they had arrived dead. An inexpensive temp data logger would have caught him.)
