Raksha,
Well, I personally would go for E.janseni. It's only taxonomics, do not get stressed about this.;-)
Right, about their husbandry. THEY ARE VERY SHY!!!! So, keep the tanks covered so that they can not see you walking about. I'm keeping mine on the top of the rack where they seem to feel safe.
They can be very difficult to get started. I suggest that you try using dead mice first, but I'm rather sure that this will not work so then try live mice. They seem to be more interested in active prey than dead.
You are correct in saying that their keeping should follow what has been said about G.oxycephala. But, the tank should be somewhat larger. Even though being semiarboreal this species will spend more time hiding so keep this in mind. Also temperatures around 25C (sorry, I'm not used to your F) without any basking spots seems to be just great.
And keep them rather moist, not wet. I'm using kitchen tissues as bottom material which I then spray 2-3 times a week. Works perfectly.
Well, that's all I suppose.
Oh, I almost forgot.........they can pack a very nasty bite!!!;-) I'm handling mine with leather gloves.
Cheers,
Mikko
BTW, best book for all ratsnakes again is the Elaphe bible written by Klaus Dieter Schultz.
Well, that is not the real name of that book...
If you wish to have one (you should) go to Kingsnake homepage and see publications/publishers and there click Bushmaster Publications.
