Adam....
... I can agree with some of what you're saying. It bugs me a little when breeders only come on to post what they're going to sell later, but mostly because I can't afford to buy it, or don't have enough room for more species right now, lol. Actually, I think they're within their rights and they're just posting info about breeding/what they keep, etc. We all do this to some degree, and personally, I like to know what everyone has and what they're doing with it, whether it is a big breeder or small breeder.
I don't visit classifieds or other places of business very much. If a person didn't put up messages about what they're doing on RF, I probably wouldn't know. I usually don't like to do an extensive search. Many people come on the forum just to ask, who has what? Usually they get the answer of who we know from the forum. I think, if people don't use the forums, at least to some degree, they lose business. Some of us do a lot of selling, some very little, but it's part of the hobby. I don't mean to take sides, or anything, but I just see it that way.
Speaking of the hobby as a business, I'm glad there's a demand for captive bred animals, otherwise we would still be buying and wasting our time on wild caughts, right? and also not as many species would be available.
Adam, I wish everyone was in it for the same reasons as us, but it really takes all kinds. I have the type personality, I like to hear responses to my posts, and I get bummed if there's not much interest. As a matter of fact, this forum really sux sometimes for lack of interest. But there's always the potential there, and one of my hopes is that the diehards will help to generate that interest.
Actually, there's a lot of breeders out there that almost never post, and it's hard to know what they have, or what they're doing. Hang in there, buddy, and I hope we will all be friends someday too :)
PS: I'll be gone to AZ for two weeks starting Wed, in case anyone wanted to know :)
