I found a black rat dead on the road a minute ago, and rescued 2 eggs outside of her body, and took the snake back home and dissected 3 more eggs (which looked better hydrated) and placed all 5 in a plastic sandwich box with air holes on top lid, and placed them in my 82 degree water "double boiler" type incubator. I am incubating bearded dragon eggs right now which are due to hatch soon so I know how to raise hatchlings if you would help. Is there any chance that the 3 eggs I removed (that I know are intact and undamaged by the car might hatch? What do you think about the 2 that were next to her? Are black rats live bearing and if so would they hatch in the incubator if the mom died? I don't know exactly how long she was dead in the road. She was warm from "basking" though and I hope this helped the babies. Any advice help recomendations or site tips would greatly be appreciated. I wanted to cry just thinking about the loss of the mom and the 5 babies. thanks in advance.
