all songbirds are federally proctected,adults, eggs nests and young..only starlings, english sparrows, and rock doves(columbia livia) are exsempt...hefty fines, and your damaging native populations)heres my suggjestion, leave you native birds alone, go buy a pair or two of zebra, or society finches....(the bird alternative to "mice")....you can feed a few out, and let your remaining pairs breed and supply you with young..they do a good job, believe me...i own a few "bird eaters"...i scented my rodents for awile, then went to straight rodents....if there more difficult, finch eggs "with shells" whipped and dip a mouse in them....(button quail eggs) work too...
