Many birds are federally and locally protected. All songbirds are illegal to collect. Unless you're grabbing only sparrows or pigeons, I'd suggest you stop.
Many of the birds we see locally are migrants from faraway areas and are threatened or endangered in one of their stopping spots, so we need as many as we can get.
