Hi-
I just got back from a local reptile shop and decided to come home with a leucistic Texas ratsnake, due to that awesome white color!! I am generally a boid fan and so this is a bit different than I am used to working with. Even though they are known to be a bit agressive, this little female, once out of the cage, seems OK!! I hope to work with her and tame her down. My question is this: as I was about to purchase on another female leucy, my attention was drawn to what was called a leucistic albino texas ratsnake. As assumed, this snake had the leucistic body and those unmistakable Texas ratsake eyes...in reddish pink color!!! the salesperson told me it was the only one he had ever seen, and that it came in from someone who wanted to ditch all his ratsnake offspring for some pythons. I decided to get this snake as I had never seen this occurance before. Does anyone know about this variant? I read one thing on the internet that said that it had been proven that the dark eyes could be bred out by outcrossing a leucy with an amelanistic? Please let me know if this is rare? Even though the normal leucistic contrast is more startling, This animal had huge pink eyes, and was too bizzare to pass up! Any info would be great!!
