Sorry about the confusion on the scalaris eggs, but those are just as good. Situla and bimaculata would be nice too. I'm hoping my "blue" phase bimac will drop a few, yet, this year. It will be her first time. My Persian and S. Korean dione eggs are still doing well. Hibernation is definately one of the keys, but I'm wondering if timing of putting them together isn't just as important. Some of mine were cooled very well and still didn't mate.
I've been thinking about doing some field work down South...Ohio, West Virginia, etc, and have a friend in KY I'd like to visit. Then, maybe we could meet someplace inbetween for some road cruisin'. Talk more later in an e-mail.
I attached a recent pic of a brown snake, so you can compare wrightorum with our ssp. I think we have an intergrade northern x ?? The color is different, gray vs. brown, but otherwise look similar.
Nice pic on the scute. I'll be heading to AZ near the end of July for two weeks, and hope to get some pics of my own. Look forward to seeing some more of yours. Don't think I'm going to be able to make Daytona this year. Talk more about that later. TMC.
: Thanks! Actually, that's scalaris eggs, the sauromates haven't bred this year, they're staying in opposite corners of the tank. I do have a much better year than I have had in a long time though. That is probably the result of this excellent hibernation setup I (and Walt, give credit where credit is due) came up with.
: I am also expecting E. situla eggs and another unrelated clutch of E. scalaris eggs any day now. I even felt some eggs in my bimaculata, but it may be a while before she lays.
: That would be a great idea to go out herping with you. I would very much enjoy that. I just found a gravid female Dekay's Snake (Storeria dekayi wrightorum) in my backyard a couple of weeks ago that I photographed and released (attached photo). I also attached a couple of pics of my first Mojave Rattler (Crotalus s. scutulatus). I will post the rest of the photos in the Field Collecting Forum once I have them developed.
: Talk to you later,
: Sacha
: PS: Are you planning to attend the Daytona Show this year?
