Hey thanks Del!
I had a great time too. I just got word that I'll get another 4 months worth of work on that same project (guess they liked my work ;-), so I will probably be out that way again pretty soon (put the beer into the fridge). I can't wait to go out hunting again. Maybe I'll see a Sidewinder this time. Oh, and for the rest of the Rat Snake forum people, here's our tally:
Tuesday 6/5/01 Lancaster, CA
1 California Kingsnake (Lampropeltis getulus californiae), ~ 3.5ft
1 Great Basin Gopher Snake (Pituophis catenifer deserticola), ~ 3ft
A friend found a beautiful Western Longnose Snake (Rhinocheilus l. lecontei),
and two Pacific Gopher Snakes (Pituophis c. catenifer).
Wednesday 6/6/01 Lancaster, CA
1 Mojave Rattlesnake (Crotalus s. scutulatus), ~ 1.5ft
1 Mojave Rattlesnake (Crotalus s. scutulatus), ~ 2ft
1 Mojave Rattlesnake (Crotalus s. scutulatus), ~ 2.5ft
1 Great Basin Gopher Snake (Pituophis catenifer deserticola), ~ 4ft
1 DOR Mojave Rattlesnake (Crotalus s. scutulatus), ~ 1.5ft
1 DOR Pacific Gopher Snake (Pituophis c. catenifer), ~ 3ft
1 DOR Glossy Snake (Arizona elegans), ~ 2.5ft
2 Coyotes
Thursday 6/7/01 Caliente, CA
1 California Kingsnake (Lampropeltis getulus californiae), ~ 2.5ft
1 DOR Pacific Gopher Snake (Pituophis c. catenifer), ~ 3.5ft
Sorry, no Elaphe out there, but it was still exciting.
I know, this info might be better off in the "Field Collecting" forum, but I somehow feel more at home here :-)
Also, my Persian Ratsnake laid 3 beautiful eggs for me yesterday, and one of my Ladder Ratsnakes just popped out her ninth (!) egg.
