i lost my young everglades rat about 6 months ago .....we looked and we dug the house up looking for him....he was a wonderfull snake ..i got him from a petshop, they refused to change his cage or anything he was so.."mean"....they had dubbed him killer.blagh*,... i brought killer home and he was great...hungry and stressed but fine, quite tractible....i had him about a month, and then forgot to clip the buckle that holds there cage lid shut down.....when i came home he and that other snake i had posted pics of on here, were gone..(they both live in a planted 50 gallon high)..we found the other one quickly, he was under a counter....but the everglades was gone....anyway, i was getting ready to go on a weekend trip, and was checking everyones water, and i see this snake climbing on my black rat snake enclosure...(i have a pair housed in there)..i thought, my darn cornsnake must have gotten out.....i grabbed the snake...and relized!!!its my everglades!!!!!he has grown almost a foot!...hes in great health...und strangley in good weight...even a little chubby....
..well i found out what he has been eating....he went potty yesterday, and i saw hatchling zebra finch feathers...he had gotten into my aviary....thats why the population wasnt growing...he was eating the young and subadult birds......well to get on with it, has anyone else had a simalar experiance with a snake you mentally wrote off as gone or dead....?
ps...ive renamed him......lazurus
