Well I answered on the other forum that it possiblly was a blotched water snake, but my new conclusion is that it could also be just a dark texas rat. People tend to over estimate the size of the snakes they see, in all actuality it is fairly un-common to see a snake exceed 6' in the wild, in North America. What kind of eggs was it reportedly eating? If this snake was in or around a chicken coupe, I would definately think it to be a texas rat snake (E. o. lindheirmei).
