Jim, congrats on your first eggs. First I would give the female water and make sure she always has it available. I would try feeding her in a few days or so. I'm sure she is ravished. Next, go to your neighborhood nursery and get some vermiculite or perlite. These are planting additives that hold water well and make a good substrate for incubating eggs. You will need to mix a 1:1 ratio of this and water in a sealable container. I usually do this by touch but you will need to measure. You want the mix to be moist but not too wat soo that the water collects at the bottom in a large amount. Next place the eggs in the container so that they are approx. half in and half out of the mix. Do not bury them too deep as they may suffocate inside. If the eggs came out nice a white and plump they are probably fertile. If they are yellowish and crinkled up they are probably slugs. Since you probably do not have an incubator you will need to find a place in the house where the temp. remains around 80ish dgrees. Usually a closet makes a good incubating area. In approx. 60 days if everything goes right you should see the heads start to pip. Hatching eggs is beautiful to watch I hope you have success doing so. ----glenn n nancy
