Haha, tryin to keep snakes away. I would guess the theory behind this was that the moth balls masked the smell of the poultry, personally I dont think this would be very effective. I cant think of any Rat snakes from the Northwest, I could be wrong, but they are probalbly referring to Gopher or Bull snakes.
