Care and setup for wild rat

i caought a snake which i think is of the rat snake family. it is a cat snake. i would like to know what setup it should i have. would a wild setup make it feel more at ease. should i use soil and wouldn't it affect his feeding? when should i feed him and how often? thanks for any help
