In Reply to: Is Elaphe guttata emoryi considered a rat or corn snake? posted by Fred on March 22, 2001 at 22:55:17:
: I was curious to know if Elaphe guttata emoryi is considered a corn snake or if
: Elaphe guttata guttata are the only true "corn" snakes. I've seen sites that will
: lump these 2 together as corns because of the "guttata" but the commone name for the
: emoryi is "Great Plains Ratsnake".
: Does anyone know?
Well, there are signifigant physical differences, but I believe taxonomically, that it deserves ssp. status.
There are probably those that disagree, with good reason as well.
