The chicks are a days-old chicks that where thawed. There is water in the dish. They both dragged their chick into the dish by accident. Nice picture right? The substrate is originally made for bird cages. It is wood chopped into little pieces. It's heavy and has a 40% humidity. It is easily scooped out when soiled.
