I don't own any Elaphe just now, but I intend on getting some soonish. Rather than buy in young, I hope to get older specimens that are no longer wanted. this way, they will be getting a better life in a bigger cage than they had. It might sound a bit odd, but i don't really believe in keeping herps (particularly wild-caught specimens) in captivity for the most part... there are simply FAR to many irresponsible owners out there, and not enough people with the knowldge required to give the animal a good life. As I said, I intend on simply adopting unwanted specimens, but they will have to be tame and used to handling before I take them.
It was due to an older sibling moving out and me inheriting their (much larger) bedroom that I now have the room for such a large cage. Always wanted to keep snakes larger than Garters etc... only now do I have the space to do it!
