Do you have any obsoletas and corns now,or are planning on getting some? If you have them already, and if their handleble now, they should remain so if you take them out on a regualar basis. If their young and nasty, calming them down shouldn't be to difficult.Adult with an attitude problem are a bit more difficult, but not impossible.
That sounds like a nice size cage your planning, wish i had that kind of room available. But what i have them in now is a lot bigger than they expect....i'm sure.
My main objective to this kind of setup is to make it appealing.I used to use paper towels on the floor, which didn't look that bad with nice decorations, but theres no suck thing as spot cleaning.Every couple days i was taking everything out to change the towel,it was becoming a pain. So,i switched to fine bark.Much better and a lot nicer looking. Now i can spot clean there mess when it appears and change the whole thing monthly.
I kind of go over board on the decorations.I have lots of branches ,small trees, plastic plants, rocks, the works.I also give two hide boxes, and with all the plants and wood, everyone finds a cozy place.
I heat the tanks with heat pads 24/7,spot lights and full spectrum florescent lights in the day and black lights at night (for a bit more heat and so i can see them at night).
As soon as i get my scanner working i plan on taking/posting pics of my snakes and tanks,i'll send you some when they come.
Hope this helps Ally and feel free to email me....

: Cheers mate.

: If I do it, I intend on setting up a tank about 5 feet long, 2.5 feet wide and about 6 foot tall. I'll probably not house more than 3-4 snakes in it. Is there any other I should have in it other than hide boxes and a stout branch? One more question (if you have time!) - how aggressive are ratsnakes? Can they all be tamed? I don;t want to be stuck with a 6 foot long aggressive balck ratsnake!!!

: Thanks again.
