: I am thinking of getting a pair of these snakes and I was wondering how to get them to breed.
: I have never attempeted to breed a tropical ratsnake before, but I have alot of experience with corn snakes.
As long as both snakes (the female most importantly) have good body weight, you can put them together anytime and they may copulate, naturally right after the female sheds is the best time, and seperate them on and off till she appears gravid (her food intake will drop slightly or alltogether) and she will start getting more robust. Its not hard to tell, their skin can become a little distended starting about a 2/3 down the body. Provide a moist hidebox that is large enough for her to coil up and lay eggs in (this should be there for her when she is not gravid as well). From time of egg fertilization to egg laying can as few as 45 (I have heard it happen) as many as 60-75 depending on the animal, with radiata the range is so large that animals from different populations may have developed different habits.
Hope this helps.
