Well, it isnt suprising since they sometimes tend to be aggressive and not regarded as good pets (which I strongly disagree with) and additionaly,
they are much more popular as a food item in Vietnam and China. So... there isnt alot of field data, and wild collected animals often have a pretty low life expectancy in captivity. I would also equate their situation with the mollendorffs rat which because of their large size are more often collected for food than for export.
