Actually the original 'whitesided' or ghost glades rat was a wild caught animal from near Fort Myers, Florida. The strain was then established by Chris and Sheila of Gulf Coast Reptiles, and has been on the market for a few years now. I first saw them for sale in Tampa in 1997, although they were probably available before that. Here is a pic of one I purchased from them back in 1999....
