: I put my adult pair of E.p.coxi down for brumation just over 4 weeks ago, and no matter when I check on them, they are active. I've checked them late at night when room temp was near 47, and midday when temps are around 62, one or both of them seem to be moving. I've wondered if they were hungry but they were VERY well fed and had 3 weeks to clean out thier gut. Anybody else experience this? Do you think they are cooling enough? Also the male went through a complete shed cycle in a little over a week. Seems awfully fast for a brumating snake. An input would be appreciated. Don
Hi Don,
mine are at about 50-55 at night and 60 mid-day, and I do see them out quite a lot, but not all the time. They aren't really moving a lot, just "out", ya' know ?!
Remember they are a montane species and they really like cool temps. I don't let them get above 75 even in mid summer. I've talked to a couple that keep them even at 80+, but I wouldn't.
