One possible idea is to use "Lizard Maker" to scent the mice...

I don't know if the scenting by using the drops will help. But T-Rex (I think) sells this item. I agree that getting the snake to eat is most important at this point. There are several rat snakes that eat lizards when young in the wild. Corn snakes and some milk snakes (not rat snakes) come to mind.
