I have dealt with fair numbers of w/c mollendorfi, I found they
did much better when they were fed and rehydrated first then
deparisitized (by flagyl tabs stuffed down the throat of a f/t fuzzy)
The animals that were treated this way lasted longer than the ones that
were treated shortly after aquisition.
Nonetheless, both died, the ones treated later lived about 4 months longer.
I was told by several sources (I dont know if this is true) that many of the larger
snakes shipped out of S.E. Asia have their gall bladders removed before
they are shipped. I never took this to heart because of the trouble one would have to
go to to conceal it (although most never question scars on a w/c animal) but it may be
true, in some cases given all the work some put into trying to establish an
animal only to prolong its life a few months.
