everlglades rats...are they all aggressive?

Are all everglade rats aggressive? Every one that I have seen and/or held is just downright nasty? Is this because they are a swamp snake, or have I just been unlucky in seeing the mean ones? I've always had good luck in holding corns and black rats, but the Glades like to snap, hiss,and bite!
