HELP ME! (Please..),
I am a big fan of the Kingsnake sites, and now I need to turn to you folks for help (I read the posts regularly - you guys know what you're doing!).
I just bought a lovely adult (4 ft) corn snake female with mate, and a breeding pair of Bairds rat snakes. They're robust, well fed, and healthy. I wish to breed them. I've been a herper for 7 years, but due to health probs never bred. Ergo, on that score, I am only in posession of the intellectual knowledge. I need help with the practicalities!! (NO!! not THOSE practicalities! )...
My Question is this: (finally, you say?) :) ~
Is it too late to begin the cycling for winter brumation now? I only got them last week and obviously they haven't been subjected to lower photoperiods or lowering temperatures.
If I finish up on feeding at the end of this month, and begin lowering the photoperiod as of right now (they're currently on a 12/12 cycle), is it possible to get them into brumation in time for spring mating?
How long would y'all recommend? 8 weeks? 12 weeks?
Try to answer my dilema if you can... time is running out!!! :-)
(an email would be appreciated).
Cheers in advance,
Lee
