Q's about Mandarin Ratsnake babies...

hi all

is this species really hard to get started as babies ? i've read in a couple of websites that "Hatchlings do well, and feed well on pink mice" is this the norm ? or the exception ? can you compare them to mountain kingsnakes in terms of difficulty. if so, what techniques would you use to get them started (scenting animals, etc.)? thanks in advance.
