I've wondered if that would work a few times myself. Seeing you live outside of Atlanta you should have no trouble finding some Elaphe obsoleta, mainly the black rat although you may find some gray and yellow rats as well. I would stick to only animals found within a few miles of your house and only wild caught animals. It's never a good idea to release a captive bred animal into the wild population.
Although I honestly have to say I think you may find something else to be more productive. Try a search on the web for "rodent control" or something along those lines. Another good approach would be to arm all the kids within a mile of your house with pellet guns and give them $10 for each mouse they bring you. Oh wait, no, that's a good idea for controlling windows, sorry:)
Point being I think controlling rodents in the attic with snakes would be like cutting 2x4s with a steak knife, it'll work just fine but there's got to be a better way.
