: Hi!
: Flavirufa hatchlings are anything but small. My hatchlings could easily eat small fuzzy mice right after their first shed. No problem eaters, either . . . just nice robust baby snakes! The eggs must have been a good 3" long.
Woohoo. Maybe I'll have to move them up a notch or two on my get-a-pair-when-I-actually-have-space-and-money (ha! like that's ever gonna happen!) list...
: My adults, on the other hand, can be a little finicky. They will typically grab a mouse readily, but if they see me moving around in my reptile room, they won't eat it. They have also gone through a few "I don't want frozen mice" phases, but they snap out of it after a few feedings.
Are your adults wild-caught? Don't remember even seeing c.b. flav. flav. for more than the past year or so... But, hey, as long as they are willing to eat often enough, a little finickyness isn't going to hurt anything but my blood pressure. :)
: I'm not sure what you consider a "smallish" snake, but my adults are larger than my corn snakes. By the way, I have E. flavirufa flavirufa. Maybe the subspecies pardalina is smaller?
Hrm. Maybe I'm just confused, but I remember seeing their adult length listed as around 2-3' somewhere... Patrick Alexander
