I haven't tried this myself, but seen it done. Paint the interior with several coats of that interior washable non-toxic paint designed for human nurseries. You can get it in almost any color. I've seen a really cool effect for a jungle-type feel where a dark greenish paint was used as a base, then various leaf patterns in several lighter shades of green were stenciled/leaf-printed over it. makes for a dark tank though!
