: K,
: I've sealed the cage with tape and plastic bags and I've put a vapona box inside. I can't seem to find the strips here. The boxes spread the same gass, dichloorvos, that's what it's called here anyway.
: I'll keep it closed for about two weeks and then will I ventilate it very well for a day or so. That should do the cage trick I hope. And yes, I have cleaned the cage very well at first.
: Do you have any other tips for disinfecting the cage??
: ps. the snakes are of course in another cage : )
you need to have more than one cage for the snakes.
the vaponia is probably not going to do the trick. Just like most parasites mites have become all but immune to most cemicals.
One way to kill the mites would be to clean the cages OUTSIDE with a bleach and water solution 1 cup of bleach to 1 gallon of water and scrub the hack out of the cage and rinse thouroghly. This can be done daily and it WILL kill the mites and if you do it outside there isn't as good of a chance of the mites getting into carpet plus it is usually easier to rinse a cage out with a carden hose tan ain a bath tub or sink. I would clean the cage the snakes are not in like this and then soak them and then put them in the clean cage. and repeat the process daily. I don't know if there is anything else you can use that will work but I KNOW bleach works.
