: What do we know about these? I know they're Asian rats, I know they get big, and I know what they look like. Plus, I have a field guide from Singapore that lists them as a differnt genus, and that they grow to 4 meters! There is a little bit more info on them in the guide, but I am more interested at this point in other keeper's experiences with these snakes.
: I had a dark one recently that was about eight feet in length, and was pretty ugly. However, he was a pretty cool snake, and I loved the shear size. Pictures I've seen of these show much prettier snakes than the one I had, and I would be interested in finding any carinata for sale, or at least talking to others who have had maybe fond experience with this species.
: If anyone knows anything at all that could help me, let me know.
: Thanks a bunch!

Hello
I did'nt think there were that many people who are into these snakes. Our breeder male (and my only male, so i'm looking for another)is approx 7' and a high yellow specmen. I belive it to be from a different region since our albino, hypo and normal females are of a darker black and are less yellow than he is. All of my females were originally collected in the mainland china region and i have no idea were my male originally came from.
I've found these to be a large and powerful animal, with a weak consricting response. Tend to be a grabber and a gulper much like my Spilotes are. They seem to prefer slightly smaller food items than they can easiliy take. I supplement mine occasionaly with quail and chicks, and have seen some that will attack other snakes when not at breeding time. They will eat other snakes so i do keep them seperate. I only have one that is aggressive and would just as soon eat you than look at you. My others are resonably handleable. They need to be cooled down prior to breeding, the babies hatch large and feed readily on small mice.
Feel free to ask anything else
