Hi Soda
I usually keep ratsnakes in groups. There are a few problems though. Especially Asian ratsnakes like carinata can eat other snakes even bigger ones. This often happens during feeding or mating. If you have the time feed all ratsnakes seperately and be alert if not all has eaten when introduced to each other again. Mating season is another problem. If the female isn`t ready to copulate it can go terrible wrong. Among ratsnakes I have only seen it among the Asian species like carinata and radiata, but we aware always........
Normally there isn`t the same problems with the american species, but especially Elaphe obsoleta is very greedy and can eat other snakes.
The picture is a female Coluber hippocrepis that didn`t want to be copulated and ate the about 20 cm larger male.
Best wishes
