It took about 6 mos. I placed a huge rubbermaid hide box in the cage which eally sped up the process - security breeds calmness! Days of working in the room got them accustomed to me as did feeding times. I occaisonally took them out (very gingerly) only for short periods which became longer over time. At 9' they are incredibly strong and forceful in getting where they want to go so I don't force them around but merely guide them slowly.
