Adam,
First of all, I'd like to thank you for including my name in the list of people that you regard as being one of the "good guys" :-) I'm truly honored!
I feel the same way, and that's one of the reasons that I'm not interested in morphs at all. I think most snakes are much more beautiful in their natural coloration with rich colors. I would prefer a nicely colored Corn Snake from the Okeetee area over an amelanistic one anytime, and that goes for most all species. Now, I have to admit that I do look for nice colors in the snakes I keep, but nothing that's a mutation.
What gets me is all the made up new morphs of Ball Pythons. How many different "morphs" are there (now, I'm not talking about the true color mutations like axanthic, xanthic, melanistic, amelanistic, etc., but rather pattern morphs)? I think it's just plain stupid to make up a new name just because one looks a little different, and quite frankly, most of the time I can't even see a difference to a "normal" ball python. One of my males for example has very nice, rich colors. Do you suppose I can come up with a name for that one too and sell it for, let's say, $500.- ? The other one is not as nice and has some more dark speckling. Oh, I know, I'll call that a "Mud Ball", and sell it for $300.-. Any takers?
Best regards,
Sacha
