: I live near Flint, MI. I was not aware of any state-wide permit system for any herps. I am guessing the permit(s) would be difficult to get. I once almost got in a fistfight and arrested by the DNR (Department of Natural Resources) here for taking a box turtle off a busy road because I was touching it. I explained that I was moving it not harrasing or collecting. He explained that the law said no touch. I have never met a bigger moron and most of the DNR I have dealt with are no better. This from a state that develops at an alarming rate. Michigan is the US equivalent to Australia.

Hi Phil. I have a pair that are yearlings. They are not wild-caught, however, are yours? Eastern fox snakes in Michigan are protected and you need a permit to keep them. The Western fox snakes are not. I'm interested in the ecology and behaviors of the Eastern fox, and occasionally make field trips to their habitats to get more enlightened. I have rarely found E. foxes in the wild, but do have a really interesting story. TC.

: : Is anyone out there besides me working with Eastern Fox Snakes ? Is anyone working with E. Fox snakes that originated from a location other than Sandusky Ohio ?
