::If it comes from the intergradation zone then it would be a mix of emoryi and meahllmorum, right?
:Correct. Assuming it really is a hybriud, it would be a mix between bairdii and a meahllmorumXemoryi intergrade. Man, through in some more different populations, inbreed for 200 years, knock out all by 3 teeth, and you'll have a snake that resembles your typical south Louisiana cajun! (I wonder if they are related to our MI hillbillies, lol.)
::Those guttata from s. TX,
:You mean the silver&black meahllmorums or the Brazos Island ones? (I just have one Brazos Is. rat.)
:: as well as the ones from w. TX, are very nice looking snakes.
:Hey now, don't be forgetting the best ratsnakes in all of Texas! They are in EAST Texas! [Ya, but East TX ain't meahllmorum, is it? Tell me more about those silver and black meahllmorum. They sound very interesting.]
:: I look forward to seeing some in the wild. Below is my male meahllmorum that will be a breeder this year for me.
:Here's my male meahllmorum I was lucky enough to grab last season. He's being bred with a female meahllmorum from a less common local, so the babies will be generic...but atleast pure subspecies. [Generic? Maybe not locale specific, but pure ssps. I don't think I'd call them generic then. Could produce some nice meahllmorum :]
:
[That's a nice snake, KJ. Is that an example of the silver and black ones?]
::PS: Cool map, KJ. What program did ya' use for that :) TC.
:Thanks, but you should see what that program can do with someone that knows how to really use it. I'm OK with it when I spend time working with it, but that was a quick job. The program used is ArcView GIS v3.2 . It's a program we use a lot at work for aerial images, mapping, etc. I had the Texas map on my computer because we just compiled a crapload of data to update and release the current range of American alligators in Texas. So, this map was easy to do...lol. [Thanks for the info. I don't know if I'll ever get hold of anything like that, but it looks like it could produce some great work. PS: I talked to TP about meahllmorum in your area a little last night. I've got a feeling there's some really nice snakes over there including the Brazos Is. ones. I'm crossing one with one of my corns to see what kind of creamsicles they make this spring, but maybe I should make a pure line of meahllmorum. Great characteristics :)
