If your yellow rat is Pantherophis obsoleta quadrivittata, then hybridizing it with any Eurasian Elaphe is out of the question. They're completely incompatible. It is because of their divergence that the North American rat snakes have now been assigned to the genus Pantherophis, to clearly distinguish them taxanomically from Elaphe.
