yellow rat eye problem?

hi i have a male with an eye problem las year the female had the same i believe it's called bulluous spectalpathy (spelling not sure)
anyway last year the female got it and i tried the whole drain thing bla bla but she got bad and didn't make it,now the male just got out of hibernation and look's like the same thing,anyone familiar with this problem?

another question what have yellow rat's been cross bred with?
would an asian elaphe be out of the question?
