Well, since this is my first ridleyi, i can't give you a huge personal background with them, but I can say yes, mine is very fiesty as well. Gapes, strikes, and rattles his tail(which i think is the cutest thing ever). He's beginning to calm down and is more handlable now, but i find their fiestiness part of their charm. :) If you're willing to work with it, get bitten a few times(which really doesn't hurt), and give it time to calm down, then go for it. If not, i'd go with a different sort of beauty. My Taiwans are the "tamest" snakes i own. You can bump em on the nose, grab their heads, man handle them, and they really don't care. Main reason they're like that is because since I picked them up, they've been going to educational Outreaches, so are used to being molested by children ;)
:I have a question about the cave rat snake. My husband wants a rat snake, and I am smitten with the Ridley's good looks. How's their disposition? I saw a post above stating their Ridley is grumpy. Is this true with all? Thanks for any insight...
:Jenn
:BTW - Your snake just illustrates why I find them so amazing. Lovely pictures & beautiful snake!
