finally gives us a split (should have been done earlier) from Old World. Maybe that's the whole intent in a nutshell. There's been several species name changes in Old World each year. I was thinking that it would narrow down and define the "Elaphe" to the point of whether Old World and New World is different. If our rat snakes are truly a different species than Old World, then let's do it. Lumping falls short in my opinion. That's what we appear to have. That's what Old World started with and look what's going on now.
