it that way. Lumping does give us the closeness like you said. I shouldn't be so reluctant since it's providing the split we deserve and keeps the one genus. It just seemed too generic to me. You just want to split the North American rat snakes off from your Asians. lol. I'm just kidding since you will be getting into Southwestern North American snakes in awhile. A significant amount of work to be done there I'm sure.
