: I love the Leusistic Texas rat, but i can not bring myself to deal with a snake that will never calm down? I have spoke with several people that have told me to forget about these guys because they are so nasty? Is this true, and what are your experiences in handling these guys, and opinions?
BBM,
I've had an adult leucistic texas rat for a few years now. Mine is not nasty at all. He will strike ocassionally but once he's lifted out of his enclosure he's fine. He was an adult when I got him in a trade so I don't know how he was as a baby or sub-adult. I do know that the previous owner never handled him. Who knows, maybe they get their bad rep. from being mean & nasty when their small; maybe they grow out of it naturally.
My experience with them is limited.
