First you need to get a good thermometer, so you will know exactly what the temperature is. I like to keep the warmest area of the cage in the low 80's.
Personally, I would use an undertank heating pad rather than the heat lamp for this species.
As far as the UV lamp, you can use either one if it makes you feel better, but snakes do not require UV light at all.
