Brian,
Now that i think about it...the guy who gave me the snake said it was caught in Spencer County, which is just east of Bullitt county if i'm not mistaken. I don't live in Kentucky, actually i just go down to visit(and snake hunt) a lot during the warmer months. I'm pretty much the guy anybody calls on to ID a snake or catch one. One of my grandpa's friends caught my snake and remembered that i liked them, so he brought it to me. I don't know how old it was when i got it but it looked to be right out of the egg, it was so small. Maybe we can talk more about breeding when i get her up to size. For a long time, she just didn't want to eat, so she didn't grow very much. Now she sucks down anything i give here and she's starting to fill in and get longer. I don't think the breeding will bring in a whole lot of money, but that takes the fun out of it anyway.

: Your female could be a clutchmate to my male! Mine looked the same as a hatchling. I measured mine back in November. He was 16 months old and was 39". He is an '01 snake that Ive had since he was maybe a week old. Had his first shed just a few days after I got him. I really like the colors of these snakes, just another awesome color scheme by Mother Nature!!
: Where was yours caught? Mine came out of Shepardsville, Bulitt county.
: I wouldnt mind loaning mine to you if you wanted to breed them sometime. There is not a big demand for the KY locale black rats that Im aware of, but Im sure there are a couple people here that wouldnt mind getting one. Phil Peak or Terry or maybe Dwight. Guys?

::Last fall i was given a wc black rat from Ky that looks exactly like yours. It was only a hatchling at the time and is about 30 inches right now. She is just now starting to put on weight, for a long time she was really skinny. The colors are exact to yours. They definitely look different from other black rats i've seen. I will try to get a recent picture up soon but in the mean time, here is a bad old pic from last fall when i first got her. Maybe we can meet up some time and do some breeding sometime.
::Talk to you later,
::Kyle
