and yes that is where the man Dwight lives. Hmm, I wonder where I got them. lol. How about that male black rat snake he has for producing those awesome (not the Guthrie ones)black rat snakes. That black rat snake is a screamer. I live in Bakersfield, CA and its great to show my black rats to people (especially kids) and let them see what a snake in that part of Kentucky will look like. They are not jet black by any means, but I still love the 'Uuhs and Aahs' when I pull one out to see. The story I have on their color and looks (it may have come from Dwight) is there is gray rat snake influence in them in that part of Kentucky that came up from the Mississippi River area. We're talking light years ago, not recently. I remember awhile back a couple threads on this forum addressing the variation in color and looks of the Kentucky black rat snake (not the cowsucker threads). For example, it seems the black rats from Eastern Kentucky can be quite different in color and looks from Northwestern Kentucky. People posted pics of black rats from different areas of Kentucky and everything. It was a great forum thread I thought. Good luck Brian. I don't mean to bug you on the breeding references I make now and then. Your attitude and energy towards this hobby seems to me some of the ingredients for the potential of a good breeder.
