E. obsoleta probably smell the worst because they're bigger and just have more musk. I've heard that E. carniata ('stinking goddess') musk smells like yellow rat musk but I haven't had the pleasure yet. My Taiwan beauty doesn't seem to like to musk at all.
all the black rats i've caught in the wild exude a musk that smells something slightly reminiscent of tar(i know that probably sounds weird, but it's just my nose, i guess) and has the consistency of elmer's glue! ha!!
