How old is Striker, and how long have you had him/her? My leucistic texas rat is still a baby, and much more jumpy than my other 3 ratsnakes. I am hoping that with time and proper handling, she will come around. Texas rats have a reputation for being mean. Some are, some aren't, but I think that on average they are at least a little bit more aggressive. Don't want to get into THAT debate again right now, however. If you are set on something different, and still plan on making babies, I would still suggest other obsoleta. My black rats (one normal and one albino), and my albino greenish rat are gentle as lambs. They did a little bit of defensive posturing when I first got them, now they are tame as can be. They have not bitten me a single time (watch, I probably just jinxed myself!). Actually, my little leucy has not bitten me yet, either....but, man, she's thinkin' about it.
Handle some black rats, yellow, greenish, etc, and see what you think. They are great animals, and usually really easy to work with. Good luck. Duffy

::Your best bet, of course, is another texas rat. If you want to get another snake, but one that "looks" different, get a normal colored texas rat. Better yet, get a normal colored one (from a reliable source) that is het for leucistic.
::If what you want is something other than another texas, but you still want to try to breed, stick with the obsoleta (black, yellow, grey). If you want to stray much farther than that, you may want to check out the hybrid forum. They seem to come up with all kinds of unlikely combos. It really depends on what you want. Do you have other ratsnakes right now? What were you considering? Good luck. Duffy

:::I was wondering what/if any other rat snakes are compatable with my leucistic texas rat snake? Thanks

:First I want to say "Thanks" to both of you for the useful information. I do not have any other rat snakes right now. I do have 3 garters and 2 rough green snakes..but no other rats, yet. My leucistic texas rat snake is soo mean...there is no way I will buy another one of them. They are cool looking but is very mean. Thats why I named him "Striker". I think I will check out the hybrid forum. I am not really trying to produce something that will sell and make big bucks...but just want to see what I can produce. Thanks again.
